Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance and engineering operations of our commercial laundry facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial equipment maintenance, facility management, and operational efficiency. This role requires technical expertise, leadership, and a problem-solving mindset to ensure our equipment and infrastructure operate at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities:


Equipment & Facility Maintenance:

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and efficiency of all laundry machinery, including washers, dryers, ironers, and boilers.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all equipment is in compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Maintain HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems within the facility.


Operational Efficiency & Cost Control:

  • Optimize equipment performance to enhance productivity and energy efficiency.
  • Monitor utility consumption and implement strategies to reduce costs.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Work with vendors and contractors to secure cost-effective maintenance solutions.


Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Train staff on safety protocols and proper equipment handling.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and compliance reports.


Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and engineers.
  • Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct employee evaluations.
  • Provide training on new equipment, technologies, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in maintaining and repairing commercial laundry equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, OSHA compliance, and environmental standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and Microsoft Office.
