Job Description

We are seeking a criminal defense attorney who can provide quality legal services to our large, diverse client base. Our ideal candidate would be a former prosecutor, public defender, or private criminal defense attorney with courtroom experience. We will also consider recent law school graduates with internships in those areas who have passed the bar. Crawford Boyle, LLC, is a criminal defense and family law firm with offices in Monroe, Athens, and Lawrenceville. We are looking to expand our practice by adding an additional criminal defense attorney. Fun, fast-paced office, with a bonus structure for associates that rewards good work.

• We are looking for an attorney who has practical experience, both in and out of a courtroom, and can effectively manage their own caseload, opposing counsel, and clients.
• Proactive and frequent contact with clients, patience is required.
• Regular court appearances in multiple counties, primarily Gwinnett, Walton, Newton, Barrow, Jackson, Athens-Clarke, Rockdale, and the municipalities they contain.
• Strong writing and negotiating skills; everything is negotiable.
• A great sense of humor, clients can be a little nutty.
• Attention to detail, the devil is in the details, and usually so is the client's defense.
• Team-player mentality, we all help each other succeed.
• A willingness to do things differently, a paperless office that is constantly evolving.
• Familiarity with CLIO, Odyssey, PeachCourt, and Trello is a plus, but not required.
• Comfortable with technology, i.e., it is recommended you have an iPhone.

Responsibilities:

• Appear in court on behalf of clients and argue motions during legal proceedings
• Analyze client needs, identify solutions, and determine case strategies
• Draft correspondence, legal pleadings, motions, and briefs
• Perform research, draft briefs, pleadings, and motions
• Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of action

Qualifications:

• Able to work independently while handling multiple files
• Communication, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, and public speaking skills required
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working in a law firm environment
• Well-versed in legal research software (Westlaw/Lexis)
