Job Overview:

  • This team supports tools and tech for employees at United, specifically focused on TechOps, HR and Corporate Systems for this role

  • Location: Chicago or Houston, but ok with remote for a rockstar as long as they can travel often for in person worksh

The Sr. UX Researcher will play a pivotal role on the Employee UX team, which supports tools and technology for employees, specifically focusing on TechOps, HR, and Corporate Systems. This role requires a strategic thinker who can create impactful research artifacts such as user personas and journey/ecosystem maps. The position is hybrid, with occasional onsite work at the Willis office (2-3 times a month minimum) and up to 5% domestic travel. While the primary location is Chicago or Houston, remote candidates with exceptional qualifications who can travel frequently for in-person workshops will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and solicit feedback during design reviews.
  • Develop data collection efforts and oversee data analysis and synthesis using industry-standard techniques.
  • Design and implement research studies, including developing methodologies and data collection instruments.
  • Lead, plan, and execute field visits to shadow users in ethnographic states.
  • Develop, prepare, and deliver research reports, presentations, and other research deliverables.
  • Analyze research findings across products and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Maintain and advocate for a research repository.
  • Strategize and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research findings into decision-making processes.
  • Lead and plan workshops using established workshop frameworks.
  • Mentor researchers and provide guidance on research best practices.
  • Actively contribute to team culture and research operations.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and methodologies in the field of research.
Qualifications:
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate strategic research objectives to stakeholders, IT partners, and design team members.
  • Ability to communicate research results, graphically depict data, and justify methods and approaches both orally and in writing.
  • Extensive knowledge of usability and user experience research tools and techniques, such as field research, heuristic reviews, benchmarking, card sorts, and low-fidelity prototyping methods.
  • Strong project management and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in moderation skills and methods for group facilitation and consensus building.
  • Ability to work independently, in a team, and with or without direction.
  • Experience in related fields such as human factors, interactive design, information architecture, and/or market research is a plus.
  • Experience creating user personas and journey maps to support a user-centered design methodology.
  • 5 years of research experience with multifaceted responsibilities.

Pay Range: $60.00 - $75.00

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
