Warehouse Supervisor
Department: Warehouse
Status: Exempt
Employee Classification: Regular Full-time
Reports To: Plant Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes
Job Summary: Oversight of warehouse operation, including shipping, receiving, logistics and material handling. Coordinate department activities, staffing schedule, new hire recruitment and training, various special projects, continuous standard operating procedure and safety training. Ensure accurate inventory records and efficient operations. Works closely with Plant Manager to adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise daily operations of warehouse, including shipping, receiving, logistics and material handling in accordance with policies and procedures
- Ensure a clean, organized and safe work area
- Provides employees with guidance, coaching and discipline
- Coordinates and maintains staffing schedules
- Responsible for interviewing and on-boarding of new hires
- Develop, delegate the creation of, or review existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all major duties and responsibilities of warehouse staff
- Conducts performance evaluations for Warehouse employees
- Promote safety, and enforce all company policies and procedures
- Responsible for department moral
- Deploys breaks in accordance to BOLI guidelines
- Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices are adhered to by warehouse staff
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Associates Degree, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Proficient in Spreadsheet Software and Word Processing Software.
Working Conditions/Physical Factors:
- Exposure to cold, wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasionally required to push/pull/lift weights up to 70 pounds.
- Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment
- Worker may be exposed to hazards in the work place such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving mechanical parts, and electrical current.
- Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.)
- Must be able to use normal office equipment (scanner, printer, copier, computer)
- Must be able to stand/walk/talk/hear/sit for prolonged periods of time
Working Schedule/General Availability Expectations:
- Warehouse Supervisor must maintain flexibility with their availability.
- Warehouse Supervisor may work long hours to ensure the needs of the production facility, and customer orders are met.
- Warehouse Supervisor may be asked to cover for other Supervisors, Leads or other team members to ensure adequate coverage facility wide.
- Warehouse Supervisor may be asked to perform some duties to cover for a Manager, to ensure business continuity.
